The at home breastfeeding consult is a minimum of 1.5-2.5 hours and follow-up visits 1-1.5 hours. During visit I do a complete physical assessment and history intake of mother and baby, naked weight of baby, pre and post test weight during feeding to determine how much milk baby transfers; individualized written and verbal breastfeeding plan to meet your goals. Visit also includes unlimited e-mail, FaceTime, and telephone follow-up assistance.
Prenatal Breastfeeding, Newborn Care and Baby Behavior Classes
The prenatal breastfeeding/feeding class's goal is to educate parents on how to successfully initiate breastfeeding. This class will cover topics on benefits of breastfeeding for both mom and baby, how milk is made, breastfeeding positions and proper latching, common breastfeeding issues, how to tell your baby is getting enough, how to continue to breastfeed once mother returns to work, bottle feeding and safe formula preparation. Regardless what your feeding decision is, this class will help you prepare on how to feed your baby!
This class helps prepare parents on how to care for their newborn. Basic topics covered include how to bathe, diaper, swaddle, circumcision and umbilical cord care, safe sleep practices, newborn characterics and appearance and general baby care.
This section of the class is designed to educate parents on normal newborn behavior such as infant hunger cues, newborn sleep patterns, reasons for crying. The goal of this class is to empower parents on how to respond appropriately to their infant needs.
